21st International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling (ICMCF)
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the COIPM, we are delighted to welcome you to the 21st International Congress on Marine Corrosion and Fouling (ICMCF), taking place from July 26–31, 2026, at the Henry Ford Building in Berlin, the capital city of Germany.
Since its first edition in France in 1964, the ICMCF has established itself as the leading international forum for scientific exchange on marine fouling and corrosion. Over the decades, the Congress has travelled the world — from the United States and Europe to Australia, Brazil, Japan, and Singapore — bringing together researchers and professionals from academia and industry alike. This unique mix fosters meaningful dialogue, promotes collaboration, and supports the development of long-term professional relationships.
Staying true to this tradition, the upcoming ICMCF will feature a broad, interdisciplinary program showcasing the latest advances in our understanding of biofouling and corrosion, as well as innovative approaches to their prevention. This time, we are excited to welcome you to Berlin – a city known not only for its historical depth, but also for its creative energy, international flair, and unique mix of tradition and innovation. From Prussian palaces to punk rock, from world-class science to world-famous currywurst: Berlin is anything but ordinary. Did you know the city has more bridges than Venice? It also boasts a former airport turned public park and more museums than rainy days.
Hosted by Fraunhofer IFAM, one of Europe’s leading research organizations in applied materials science and surface technologies, the Congress will take place at the iconic Henry Ford Building of Freie Universität Berlin — an architectural gem and historic hub for academic exchange.
Berlin’s central European location and excellent infrastructure make it easily accessible from all parts of the world. We aim to make ICMCF 2026 not only scientifically stimulating but also a truly memorable experience.
We look forward to welcoming you to Berlin for exciting discussions, new collaborations, and professional exchange at the highest level.
